How Her Court Works (Public Face)
What you can safely assume before you take the floor:
- Disputes over honor, boons, and public insult go to the Harpy’s process — not to steel in the salon.
- What she refuses to recognize withers; what she praises becomes currency.
- She sits at the center of gossip that is also intelligence: alliances, humiliations, and the small sins elders pretend to forget.
- She does not replace the Prince on blood hunts or Tradition trials — different thrones. Social death is still slow, public, and sometimes worse than a cell.
The Office
The Harpy is the arbiter of boons and Status — the head of the domain’s prestation theater. While the Prince commands law, the Harpy commands opinion: who is in favor, who is a fool, and which debts are real enough to kill for. The office witnesses and arbitrates boons when parties disagree, marks who broke their word, and announces gains and losses so the city’s pecking order stays known. Major scandals — when grounded in truth and brought before Kindred gathering — are material for public censure. Lesser Harpies extend that reach, but the head remains the signature on a social death warrant. Cordelia Fairchild holds that office in Phoenix. Cross her at your peril; the ledger outlasts the insult.
