Samedi

Rotting and monstrous, the Stiffs claim terrifying control over death, decay, and the secrets of the Underworld.

The Samedi bloodline is young—none are recorded as older than roughly 250 years. Most Kindred believe they descend from a Giovanni necromantic experiment gone wrong. Whatever their origin, the result is uniform: upon the Embrace, flesh begins to fail. Some look like unwrapped mummies; others like corpses in arrested decay. All are reviled on sight.

Samedi culture is built on survival through utility. They are solitary, practical, and often steeped in voodoo, graveyard work, and the commerce of secrets. They sell their skills as information brokers, bodyguards, and assassins to whoever can pay—and they do not apologize for what they are.

In-clan Disciplines: Fortitude, Obfuscate, Thanatosis. Many also study Necromancy without needing a Giovanni teacher.

Bloodline Book: Samedi

Samedi in Phoenix

Phoenix does not advertise its Samedi. The bloodline survives by being useful and invisible—court registration is a liability when your face ends conversations. Useful work still exists in a fractured city: grief-heavy sites, unsolved deaths, and Kindred who need someone who understands what death actually looks like.

Current Situation

After the Prince's murder, unregistered Kindred draw Sheriff attention fast. A Samedi who makes herself known becomes a political problem overnight. Those who remain do so by contract, not by court standing—feeding grounds, quiet research, and the occasional favor traded for silence.

Notable Tensions

The Giovanni connection is an open wound on both sides. Nosferatu tolerance is practical, not warm. Most Camarilla Kindred would rather hire a Samedi once than admit one lives in their domain.

Embrace the Rot

Death is not an absence. For the Samedi, it is the job description.

Note: Samedi are a rare bloodline. Storyteller approval recommended.
